He is well known and trusted by local amateur and professional players. Ian works in the belief that all instruments should be easily playable no matter how little they cost. Much of his working day is spent giving advice and setting up the actions on instruments to make them as playable and responsive as possible. He personally oversees all of our string repairs.

This would be enough music in the day for most folk, but, like many of Mike's staff seems to live for music both on and off duty. He plays in three groups, ‘Sixfifteen’, ‘Laughing Gravy' and the ‘Fabulous Tomato Bros’ using both mandolin and acoustic guitar.
